Mediation

What is mediation?

Mediation is a method of alternative dispute resolution. A mediator spends time with parties in a dispute, assisting them to reach an agreeable solution.

Why mediation?

Mediation is a fast-growing and popular alternative to the increasingly costly route of conducting litigation through courts and tribunals. It empowers the parties to come to a resolution themselves, so that they have control over the outcome. It avoids uncertain, costly and drawn-out litigation. It avoids a ‘black and white’ approach to disputes and is useful in providing parties with outcomes which are not available through litigation.

Why Queen Square?

To date, 6 members of Chambers are qualified mediators, and a number of other members of Chambers are experienced at representing and advising parties involved in mediations in relation to a variety of specialist areas of law.

Queen Square’s barrister mediators are trained to grasp the complex issues in a dispute and are able to assist the parties to get to the heart of the problem. Our barristers are approachable yet impartial and professional. Barristers are available to mediate any dispute, although individual mediators have practices in employment, family, personal injury and commercial law. Mediators take on cases before and after court proceedings have been issued.

Queen Square Mediation offers well-equipped and comfortable facilities from barristers’ chambers in the heart of Bristol. Fees include the use of the facilities for the mediation. Alternatively, mediators are prepared to travel to a mediation.
