Employment:
Allan has undertaken work for both Claimant and Respondent before the Employment Tribunal in areas of discrimination, unfair dismissal and cases involving the TUPE provisions.
He has also appeared before the Employment Appeal Tribunal on the grounds of perversity where Underhill. J described his argument as “vigorous” and “effective” and in referring to his presentation stated “the exercise is a tribute not only to the quality of Mr. Roberts’ notes but also to the industry and care with which he has prepared for this appeal.”
He is happy to receive instructions to provide drafting, advice and advocacy in all areas of Employment Law.
Commercial and Chancery:
Having come to Chambers with a background in business and started and sold his own Company, Allan has a particular interest in commercial and chancery law. He is happy to receive instructions and enjoys an interest in contractual disputes, sale of goods, consumer credit and insolvency.
Additionally, work has been undertaken in a variety of landlord and tenant disputes, in both residential and commercial properties. A range of advice has been provided including an unusual scenario in which a “residential property” fell out of the regime of the Housing Act 1980 and was therefore governed by the Common Law principles of a Tenancy-At-Will.
Interests:
These include squash, judo, cooking and a recent discovery of DIY following the purchase of his first house. Whether this will prove to be an expensive hobby is yet to be seen.
