Previously a solicitor, admitted 1976.  Partner from 1980 at Thrings and Long (now Thrings), Bath.

He has a wealth of experience – as litigator and advocate - in a wide range of areas, notably employment in Tribunals, County Courts and High Courts.

His reputation is for thoroughly prepared and well presented cases.  He puts clients and witnesses at their ease in what are often trying circumstances.

Friendly and approachable; open to contact by phone and e-mail, outside “normal” hours when necessary.

Angus routinely conducts cases in Employment Tribunals nationwide.
He appears regularly for claimants and respondents, including local authorities in the region.

Angus has extensive experience in race, disability and sex discrimination as well as ‘new strand’ discrimination, e.g. religious belief and sexual orientation discrimination. 

He has a particular interest in discrimination and pensions.  He lectures on both topics, as well as on the full range of employment subjects such as TUPE, redundancy and unfair dismissal.

He appears frequently in the Employment Appeal Tribunal.

Saunders v Home Office [2006] ICR 318, [2005] All ER (D) 83 (Nov)
- concerning a long-established practice in the Prison Service re cross-gender searching; an important case with 1,500 other female officers awaiting the outcome

Chondol v Liverpool City Council [2009] All ER (D) 155 (Feb)
- a claim by a Social Worker that he had been discriminated against on the ground of his religious belief

Peter Simper & Co Limited v Cooke (No 1) [1984] ICR 6, [1986] IRLR 19
- a claim involving bias by a judge sitting alone
