David Maunder has 15 years’ broad experience practising in all areas of criminal work. He is well known as a defence advocate with an enviable record in trials, who is now building an excellent reputation as a prosecutor. Known for his ‘down-to-earth’ and approachable style with clients, many are surprised at his vigorous and persuasive presentation in court. Above all, David is an admired jury advocate with a fresh approach that has resulted in his excellent success rate.

In recent years, David Maunder's forensic skills have been appreciated in a number of heavy criminal cases, both as a led junior and acting alone. In 2007-8 he represented the principal defendant in a series very high profile multi-handed conspiracy cases (ongoing), including dishonesty amounting to tens of millions of pounds. The offences were a series of professional burglaries of antiques and other high value items and included the highest value domestic burglary on record.

Also this year he has successfully concluded a multi-handed trial alleging abuse of residents in a South Wales care home, part of Wales’ largest ongoing criminal investigation. He is also instructed to conduct a multi-handed, multi-million pound “carousel” fraud, for trial in 2009 in the same region.

David Maunder has been involved in several murder cases as well as numerous high profile sexual assaults and historic abuse cases, an area of greater and greater legal complexity. He also has great experience in drug trafficking cases, often involving covert surveillance, PII and subsequent confiscation proceedings.

He has a road traffic practice including proceedings arising from serious fatal and non-fatal accidents.

He is regularly instructed in prison adjudication proceedings and courts martial hearings.
