Profile


Since joining Chambers, Julian has developed a specialist employment practice which covers all aspects of the Employment Tribunal jurisdiction and related claims in the High Court and County Court.  He has regularly appeared in Employment Tribunal hearings which have included issues of unfair dismissal, wrongful dismissal and breach of contract, whistleblowing and victimisation, sex, race, disability and age discrimination, Equal Pay (including LGPS pension issues), restrictive covenants, part time workers,  unauthorised deductions from wages, agricultural wages and TUPE 2006.  

Julian is an experienced, pragmatic and versatile employment law practitioner.  His practice includes both Claimant and Respondent work.   In addition to private sector businesses, his Respondent clients include Housing Associations, Local Authorities, medical practices, NHS Trusts and schools.  Since being appointed as Junior Counsel to the Crown in 2007, Julian has also advised, drafted for and represented Government Departments in employment matters.

Julian also accepts instructions in Special Educational Needs and Disability Needs Tribunal (SENDIST) cases.

Julian is a trained mediator and is listed in the Bar Council's list of Barrister Mediators.
