Offences against the Person
James has quickly developed a substantial defence practice, securing acquittals and mitigating pleas for offences ranging from Section 18 to Common Assault. He takes instructions in both the Crown and Magistrates’ Court.
Drugs
He has been involved in a number of drugs cases, ranging from simple possession to the importation of large amounts of cocaine. He receives instructions from both Revenue and Customs Prosecution Solicitors and defence.
Dishonesty
James is often instructed to deal with cases of theft, burglary, Trading Standard Offences and Fraud Act Offences.
Road Traffic Offences
James has a growing private paying practice mitigating road traffic offences and defending those accused of being in charge of a vehicle under the influence of alcohol.
Prison law:
He has represented prisoners at both disciplinary and parole board hearings. James is also available to give lectures on both topics.

Appeal against sentence relating to judicial discretion for credit on guilty pleas (Court of Appeal)
R v Dicks (2007):
Defended an undertaker accused of robbing corpses in a case that received national press attention (Bristol Crown Court)
